About Us

Ubaryon identified an enrichment effect in 2014; it was incorporated in 2015. The company has been developing and progressing the technology since then including lodgement of patents; securing appropriate permits from the Australian Safeguards and Non- proliferation Office (ASNO); implementing required security measures; developing strategic relationships internationally, and continuing laboratory process development work.

Ubaryon has provided routine reporting on technical progress to ASNO since 2015. In 2018 our technology was determined to be “Associated Technology” (AT) by the Australian government which imposed significantly higher security obligations on Ubaryon. AT refers to technology that may be used in the nuclear fuel cycle, specifically including enrichment technology.

The additional AT security obligations have been addressed and are under continuous review and improvement. One outcome was the relocation of our operations to Lucas Heights in May 2022 at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) where oversight and security are significantly enhanced.

Ubaryon’s technology offers the potential for lower capital and operating costs in enrichment plus cleaner and safer operation by eliminating the use of Uranium Hexafluoride, as well as safer enrichment due to our technology’s inherent non-proliferation characteristics.

Our company has been formally inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) given the nature of our technology. Our patents are registered but prohibited from publication due to the nature of our technology. Our technology has been added the Defence Strategic Goods List to prohibit unapproved transfer or usage by other parties. Deployment of our technology in Australia is currently prohibited.

Commercialisation of our technology is reviewed routinely and requires various approvals to maintain Australia’s exemplary nuclear safeguards policies. Our technology utilises commercially available components and has significantly reduced scale- up risk.

Ubaryon is a member of the World Nuclear Association (WNA) and the American Nuclear Society (ANS), and is registered with USA’s Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI).
